Hallo Liebe Leser,
Hey Chris,
thanks for spending some time answering my questions.
First of all, Tell us about yourself and the art you make. Is everything fine at the moment?
Hello, I'm 20 years old and started making art like 3 years ago. At the moment i'm trying to work with different themes and genres but when i was just starting i only focused on space art (which isnt something i regret), most of the artist i know and talk to are former space artists as well. And yeah, everything is fine :D
How do you found your own style and how long does is take that you could said "Yes, this is my style"?
Actually i dont really know the answer, haha. A few people told me that they could see a certain style or pattern in some of my work, however i never tried to develop a style, i just made things the way i wanted and thought it was easier. I also think that my art style will change in the future, it's always changing just very slowly.
Most of your works are digital paintings. I think that digital painting is the most difficult style. Do you start with digital painting or why do you choose this kind of style?
I personally don't think that digital painting is the most difficult thing (but i guess it's because i have some experience with it). Sculpting is hard, at least for me... although i only tried it once but that one time i failed hard enough to never try again.
However, when i was starting to feel interested in art i didn't have any tools to create traditional art, well only pencils. But i had a PC and Photoshop installed so i thought it would be best to try something in digital media. Another reason is that digital art inspired me the most, i rarely was in museums and thought that digital art is easier to distribute on the net. So that's why.
Your work "Dramargu" was really outstanding in the last Luminarium artpackage. Could you tell something about the process and how do you got this concept?
Thank you.
It took me quite some time to finish this piece, after i had a rough sketch i got a little bored and started working on other pictures. Only a few weeks later i came back to Dramargu and finished it at once. It's not an awfully original artwork, like some people said, i guess i was a little inspired by the Spawn comics but i kind of like how it turned out.
Do you have any graphical techniques to convert your ideas into a new artwork?
I don't have a solid method, but i always start with a simple sketch and usually do things in black and white before coloring anything. That also might explain why most of my art is monotone. I heard some artists say that this is the wrong way, but it's just easier for me so i stick with it.
What is the average worktime when you make an artpiece like "Without" and how many freetime do you invest in making art?
Well, if i sum it up, painting "Without" took me around 6-8 hours. However it has a similar story to the Dramargu picture - after i sketched the idea i stopped working on it for a while and finished it later - so i cant say for sure how much time i spent on it. As for my freetime, i try to invest all of it into art... and sleep.
In this age of web 2.0 everybody have a facebook, myspace or twitter account. Do you have any of these web 2.0 gadgets and what do you think about sharing your works on these platforms?
I do have a facebook and twitter accounts but i'm as active as a dead man. I never actually seen myspace from the inside (or maybe i did but cant really remember) but i heard rumors, and let's just say
What is your inspirational source number one?
Weather. Or to be more precise i like to sit at the balcony or somewhere in the city and observe everything when it's snowing or raining or when there is fog (can't say i like strong wind or generic sunshine weather though)
What do you planning for the future?
I'm not sure. I would like to finish a few projects in the near future, one of them is a graphic novel. Right now it's my top priority but it's also a lot of work and i'm even beginning to doubt if i will ever finish it.
Do you think about to become a concept artist? If not, what else?
Yeah, that would be nice. Even though i would prefer to work on my own projects, i still can receive valuable experience as a concept artist.
Now some creative questions
